Four Leaf Rover Better Bones – Bone Meal for Dogs
$22.99
- Four Leaf Rover Better Bones Bone Meal for Dogs is a safe source of calcium and nutrients to support strong bones and joints.
- It is gently air-dried, natural, without acids, chemicals and bleaches unlike commonly high-heat treated bone meals.
- This gentle drying method enables the naturally occurring proteins, minerals and growth factors found in bone, to stay in tact … making Better Bones a highly bioavailable source of calcium.
- Better Bones is the correct ratio of calcium and phosphorus, which makes it really easy to balance in a variety of diets.
- Calcium sources like coral, seaweed and egg shell are good, but they have little to no phosphorus content – this creates a real challenge when trying to balance your dog’s minerals.
- Better Bones is rich in amino acids and growth factors which are often lacking in other sources of calcium.
- It also contains natural vitamin D which regulates the calcium and phosphorus balance.
- Many dogs struggle to eat whole bones. Better Bones is a safer alternative that’s suitable for senior dogs, puppies and cooked diets. There’s no need to worry about choking or splintering and no need to add unnatural calcium to cooked foods. It’s bones made better.

F A Q
Better Bones provides a clean, measured source of naturally occurring calcium and minerals to help you balance your dog’s meals with confidence without worrying about whole bones, sharp fragments, or inconsistent mineral levels.
Whole bones can vary widely in density and mineral content and they come with choking risks and potential dental damage. Better Bones gives you the benefits of real bones in a finely ground, consistent, safe-to-measure form.
Unlike eggshell powders and other calcium supplements, Better Bones comes from real, air-dried bones and contains naturally balanced calcium and phosphorus in the ratios dogs need for proper meal formulation.
Because too much of either can throw off the mineral profile of a homemade diet. Better Bones provides the natural bone-based balance dogs are adapted to making meal formulation easier and more reliable.
We source bones from grass finished New Zealand cattle to ensure purity, safety and high quality mineral content. The bones are gently freeze dried and finely ground nothing added, nothing synthetic.
Yes. Better Bones is ideal for dog owners who want the benefits of bone-based minerals without feeding whole bones. It helps balance homemade raw or cooked diets safely and consistently.
Yes, as long as you follow our simple directions. Puppies have specific calcium and phosphorus requirements and Better Bones allows you to meet those needs with precise feeding amounts. Always follow the feeding guidelines.
Absolutely. It’s a safe, species appropriate way to balance minerals for dogs of all ages eating homemade or fresh diets.
No. Better Bones contains only freeze dried, ground bone no synthetic calcium, no preservatives, no heat processing, and no artificial ingredients.
What’s the difference between Better Bones and other bone meals for dog food?
Most products labeled as bone meal or bone supplement for dogs are rendered, which means it goes through a high heat process and can be sourced from euthanized or sick animals or low quality sources. Better Bones is selected from healthy, New Zealand cattle and is human grade. Our bones are gently dried in low temperatures to maintain the healthy contents of the real bone like collagen, minerals and essential growth factors.
Yes. Better Bones is designed exclusively to balance homemade diets, and it pairs safely with any of our wellness or functional supplements.
How Is Better Bones Different From Egg Shells?
While both Better Bones and egg shells are a great source of calcium, egg shells don’t contain other minerals. This puts dogs at risk for phosphorus deficiency. Better Bones contains plenty of phosphorus and the ideal calcium to phosphorus ratio of 2:1, just like real bones. Better Bones is also rich in magnesium, zinc and vitamin D, as well as bone growth factors, collagen and amino acids. This lack of phosphorus means egg shells can’t be used to balance foods for puppies and pregnant dogs, while Better Bones contains the proper ratio of minerals and is safe for all life stages and all foods.
How is Better Bones different from seaweed or coral calcium?
Like eggshells, seaweed and coral calcium contain too little phosphorus. If you feed your dog more than 10% fat, there will be too little phosphorus in seaweed and coral calcium to meet AAFCO minimum nutritional requirements. And unlike Better Bones, seaweed and coral calcium can’t balance foods for puppies and pregnant/nursing dogs because it contains too little phosphorus.
Because Better Bones is natural powdered bone, it contains the perfect 2:1 ratio of calcium to phosphorus, along with magnesium, zinc, vitamin D, bone growth factors, and collagen. This makes Better Bones safe for all life stages and all foods.
Can Better Bones help with joints?
Better Bones helps to maintain proper joint nutrition. It also helps build and maintain healthy bones and teeth.
If my dog eats kibble can I give Better Bones?
Kibble is already balanced for calcium and phosphorus. It is not recommended to give Better Bones unless advised by your vet.
Should I still give real bones when my dog is on Better Bones?
We recommend you do not mix Better Bones with real bone in the same meal. This will make it easier to balance the minerals in your dog’s meals.
