F A Q

How should I store Saccharomyces Boulardii?

We recommend you keep Saccharomyces Boulardii in the fridge. If not, make sure you keep it in a cool, dark place.

Can Saccharomyces Boulardii cause yeast infections?

No. S. boulardii is indeed a probiotic yeast but don’t let that scare you, it doesn’t mean that it causes yeast infections. Some studies actually show that it can be used to reduce unhealthy yeast.

Can I give Saccharomyces Boulardii if my dog is on antibiotics?

Not only can you give Saccharomyces boulardii if your dog is on antibiotics, but research shows that that is exactly when you should be giving your dog S. boulardii. Specifically, research shows that giving S. boulardii can help manage or even prevent antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

How quickly does Saccharomyces Boulardii work?

Studies show that S. boulardii can populate within half an hour when given orally and steady state concentrations are achieved within 3 days. S. boulardii also stays in the gut for 3-5 days, which is much longer than most probiotics.

How is Saccharomyces Boulardii different than Protect?

Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic yeast while Protect is a soil-based probiotic. Probiotic yeast is less susceptible to antibiotics and other damage caused by medication making it ideal for dogs that are on those medications.

Is Saccharomyces boulardii a natural part of my dog’s gut flora?

Yes it is! Saccharomyces boulardii is a normal part of your dogs intestinal flora. This study shows that S. boulardii levels are higher in patients with unbalanced gut flora due to antibiotic use.
